School board discusses MPower agreement PDF Print E-mail

The Spring Hill USD 230 Board of Education was expected to approve an agreement with Kansas City Power & Light at Monday’s meeting.

The agreement would save on energy consumption within the school district. MPower is a program that pays large energy consumers’ to curtail energy during peak demand. It has been recommended the board approve the five-year 50 percent savings plan through MPower.

The estimated peak demand is the average of the customers monthly maximum demand for Monday through Friday between noon and 10 p.m. for June through September of the previous year, according to MPower’s schedule.

    It is recommended of the board to approve the 403(b) plan, to comply with new Internal Revenue Service regulations. A written plan must be adopted by January 1, 2009.

    The board will also hear updates on the Kauffman Math and Science Initiative Grant Highlights by Karen Brack.

Following the meeting board members attended the Spring Hill Board of Education Holiday Dinner.
