Three Paola city positions, including mayor, will be up for grabs in the general election scheduled for April 7, 2009.

Anyone interested in vying for the mayoral spot or competing for the Ward 1 and 3 seats on the Paola City Council has until noon on Jan. 27 to file the required documentation with Paola City Clerk Dan Droste.

Artie Stuteville is Paola’s mayor, and the council seats are held by Jim Pritchard in Ward 1 and Jack Rowlett Jr. in Ward 3.

Droste said Monday no one has filed for any of the positions, but the process is still relatively early.

A candidate for mayor must reside within the city limits of Paola and council candidates must reside within the city’s ward boundaries of the seat that is being sought. The term for each position is two years.

Detailed information about filing as a candidate, including an information package and a ward boundary map, can be viewed at the city’s Web site, www.cityofpaola.com.
