Miami County farmers and pet owners now have a new place to shop in Paola, and those who are used to traveling north will recognize the name.

Farmers Union, which also has a store in Spring Hill, opened up a new location in Paola earlier this month.

The shop, which describes itself as “Your Local Home and Farm Store,” offers farm and ranch supplies, livestock feed, lawn and garden products and pet supplies among other items.

Feed manager Tracy Lindsey said that Rita Cooper will be the general manager of the new store, with Arlen Wilcox contributing his knowledge of the products and people and Ginny Norris working up front. Clint Atkins, who has worked for Farmers Union for almost three years, also will be a manager.

The store is located on Baptiste Drive east of North Pearl Street. Lindsey said it will have the same hours as the Spring Hill location, which is 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

Farmers Union has been servicing Johnson County and northern Miami County since 1922.
