| Fontana close to hiring city clerk |

Fontana will hold a special council meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday for the purposes of hiring a new city clerk and purchasing new computers for the incoming clerk. The council will choose from three candidates out of six it originally interviewed Dec. 8. Fontana Mayor Darline Carter said the choice will be a difficult one but also said she was impressed with the abilities of the three remaining candidates. “I got the references checked Tuesday (Dec. 9)” Carter said. “All had good ones and good qualifications. It will be a tough one to pick the best.” Carter declined to release the names of any potential candidates but said she felt like the council would make the best possible choice.
