Spring Hill Police Chief Mitch Hofmann was called out of the city council meeting last Thursday evening about 9 p.m., when a man walking along Webster Street near the AGC Flatglass plant was struck by a moving vehicle. He arrived to find the victim walking around. “He was okay and walking around. He was talking and said it was a yellow Chevy S10 pickup with a wide stripe down the middle. The driver probably got scared and left the scene,” Hofmann said. Hofmann described the victim as a Spring Hill resident in his 50s, but would not release the victim’s name. “The car had veered east and back to the correct side of the road, and this is when the person went flying,” Hofmann said. Spring Hill police officers responded to the call but soon found out the accident took place a few feet outside the city limits. They turned the case, which is still under investigation, over to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.
