Flooring America of Paola plans to move its storefront just up the street in the hopes that the new location will spur business in 2009.

Owner Jason Fixsen said the plan is to move the store from 504 N. Silver St. to 1006 N. Pearl St. He expects the move to be complete by the first of the year.

The new building provides better parking and a bit more space, as well as a better location.

“It’s right across from a gas station, so we hope that helps drive traffic,” Fixsen said.

Fixsen, who has owned the store for five years, is also excited about upgrading the exterior appearance of his store.

“People are always saying the inside looks nice,” he said. “Hopefully, now the outside will look as nice as the inside.”

Flooring America provides a variety of flooring, such as carpet, hardwood, tile, laminate and vinyl, as well as commercial installation.

The store will have the same hours, which are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, except for Thursday, when it is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. It is open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday but is closed Sunday.
