Paola senior David Renberg has one more football game left to play in his prep career.

Renberg was selected to represent the Paola High School Panthers in the annual Kansas Shrine Bowl. Rosters for the game were announced Monday.

Renberg, who played on the offensive and defensive line, will play on the East squad in the East-West classic set for July 25 at Cessna Stadium in Wichita.

The Panthers were 8-4 last season, making a run into the state playoffs, which ended in the sectionals.

Renberg was one of the lineman who opened holes for sophomore running back Skylar Hawkins, who set single-season Panther rushing records for yards (2,132) and touchdowns (31).

Being an iron man, playing on both offense and defense, did not slow Renberg down at defensive end.

He led the Panthers with eight quarterback sacks. Renberg had 71 tackles, including four tackles for a loss. He caused one fumble and recovered one fumble.

David Tuley of Baldwin and Gardner-Edgerton’s Nick Mauszycki were the only other area players named to the East squad.
