The Paola boys' basketball team might have just pulled off the upset of the year so far in the state. The Panthers upset No. 2 ranked Girard 48-47 Tuesday at home thanks to a free throw from Travis Hayes with .5 seconds left in the contest.

A big second half run keyed the Paola girls' basketball team to an easy 60-46 victory at home over Girard on Tuesday. The Panthers used a 10-0 run to start the second half to put some distance between themselves and the Trojans and are now 6-0 on the season.
