Henn scores 14 points in seventh-grade loss PDF Print E-mail

Andrew Henn scored 14 points for the Paola Middle School seventh-grade boys’ varsity basketball team, but it wasn’t enough to keep the Panthers from falling to Spring Hill on Thursday, 38-32.

Both teams scored 11 points in the first quarter.

Spring Hill began to build its lead with a 9-5 advantage in the second quarter and a 10-5 run in the third quarter.

An 11-8 run in the fourth quarter was not enough for the Panthers to pull out the victory.

Henn led all scorers with his 14 points. Corey Stallbaumer and Quentin Garrison each had four points. Other players scoring for Paola were Mitchell Sloan, Ryan Hedding, Luke Wilson, Chase Jorgensen and Trey Taylor.

Garrison and Taylor each had two steals. Sloan had an assist and a steal. Wilson had one steal.

Chris Bybee led Spring Hill with 10 points. Trevor Cluck had eight points. Ty Lovetinsky added seven points and Austin Jager finished with six points.

Spring Hill edged Paola 35-32 to win the junior varsity boys’ game.

Paola outscored Spring Hill 14-12 in the first quarter. The difference in the game was a 10-5 third-quarter run by the Mavericks.

Drew Cygan led all scorers for Spring Hill with 11 points. Neil Hickman and Josh Pope each had six points.

David Turner scored seven points for the Panthers. Cayman Long and Kyler Blankenbiller each had five points. Other players scoring for Paola were Luke Robinson, Seth Slayman, Brennan Haley and Kevin Benton. Robinson had two steals. Connor Patton had two assists. Long had an assist and one steal. Gunnar Karr and Dominick Ramirez each had one steal.
