Louisburg’s Broadmoor Elementary School principal Deborah Blancarte is set to appear in Miami County District Court next month on felony drug charges.
Several school officials have been subpoenaed to appear, including Anita Cook, BES office secretary; Chuck Bond, school resource officer; and Michele Simmons, Blancarte’s secretary.

Dr. Doll and the Board of Education is Louisburg need to place Ms. Blancarte on leave (either paid or unpaid) until this is all resolved. It is the job and obligation of Dr. Doll and the School Board to keep all the students in Louisburg safe and the students have a right to be taught in a safe environment. This should not be swept under the rug.....

Dr. Doll has an obligation to comment and not ignore the situation with Blancarte. Blancarte should no longer be working at the school, instead of coming to work everyday as if nothing ever happened.

Innocent until proven guilty. Dr Doll won't say a darn thing until they have at least had the preliminary hearing. Maybe she should be on a leave, but they should not fire her until they prove her to be guilty as charged.

I'm sure she has been asked to resign but until she is officially found guilty the school district legally cannot do anything. I would say as parents we should call every parent we know have have them contact school board members about our concerns. Maybe that will get school board more involved...this is probably out of Dr. Doll's hands.

It's not like she was on the corner buying crack, this is pretty normal behavior for middle aged women, a prescription pain killer. Yes she was breaking the law if she's found guilty, but are the kids really at risk? C'mon.

"Pretty normal behavior"?? Trying to unlawfully refill a controlled substance is NOT normal behavior, even for "middle aged" women. It's a controlled substance for a reason.

Get off the school boards case, Dr. Doll, and Mrs. Blancarte. Some of you people think you know so much about this issue and you have no clue. INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY. If the the school board or Dr. Doll fired her until proven guilty, then they would open themselves and the district up for a lawsuit. I know for a fact the she has been treated horrible from the beginning of her employment by certain individuals. She was never given a chance. Get off her case. Trust me she is a good person and prinicipal. There are other people in the school who I would be more concerned with regarding the safety of OUR children.

I think the real issue here is that an administrator should be above reproach when dealing with our children, and should be able to demonstrate the ability to make good choices. Attempting to purchase prescription pain killers with another person's prescription says that this individual is willing to leave good sense behind when dealing with important issues and is definately someone I don't want in contact with my child. A plea bargain doesn't solidify Mrs. Blancarte's innocence in my mind and frankly, I agree that she should have been placed on paid leave of abscence until a ruling was made on the case. I've dealt personally with this administrator many times and wondered if her personal issues were affecting her work...this confirms the suspicions I've had as well as those voiced by many other parents in the community.

This is just one more case of mismanagement from this district and the children are being affected. One teacher left after just a few weeks of teaching and now this. We pay a premiuim price for our kids education and they toss around word like excellence and best but the staff at USD 416 is not up to par.

When will the parents in this community finally say "enough is enough?" We all complain about certain faculty members and administrators when we meet, but nothing ever gets rectified! One standing alone isn't enough, people. Why aren't more of us uniting to discuss the problems that we see in the school district? Why does this Doll person want to ignore an issue this HUGE? Have we all forgotten the D.A.R.E. slogans all over the school?

As the spouse and son of a teacher I am somewhat disturbed by the way our media vilifies any educator that does anything that is not inline with the perceived pristine image of what a teacher's morale stature should be.
However, this is ridiculous! Recently, we have seen students suspended for sharing Tylenol with another student, teachers suspended upon being arrested for DUI, teachers suspended for having questionable images on their MySpace or Facebook page and even termination for accidentally sending a text to a student instead of a friend. So, under what circumstance is it acceptable for this individual to remain on duty when she has been charged for attempting to illegally obtain and use a controlled substance? Being the principal does not place her above the regulations that govern students or teachers. I am not saying she must be fired. That is something that can be determined after her case is settled. However, for the protection of our children and in an attempt to show that the district represents only the highest of standards she should immediately be placed on leave until the matter is resolved. Additionally, from what I have heard from patrons of this school the board of education may want to look into her overall performance. This may just be the tip of the iceberg. Publicly slandering parents and children, bullying children, unprofessional behavior on the job and in the community, not supporting staff, ignoring children's needs are only a few of the stories I have heard about this school "leader". Wake up citizens of Louisburg!!! 14
