Paola Middle School students are planning to help save lives by volunteering at an American Red Cross blood drive next week. The school is sponsoring the drive as part of the American Red Cross’ Would You Be My Hero program. The drive is scheduled to take place from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the commons area at Paola Middle School. The program encourages students to play a major role in the blood donation process by recruiting parents, guardians or other adults to give blood. Students will also volunteer their time during the blood drive to ensure its success, according to a news release. The drive is open to the public.
