Eight days after scoring an overtime win at Louisburg, the Spring Hill High School boys’ basketball team got a lesson on payback from the Wildcats on Saturday.

Spring Hill had the better of the meeting in Louisburg, defeating the Wildcats 77-61 thanks to 17 points in overtime.

When the rematch came Saturday, playing for fifth place in the Spring Hill Invitational, the Wildcats struck the latest blow with a 66-54 victory to defeat the Broncos on their home court.

The game was knotted at 24-24 at the half and Louisburg clung to a three-point lead, 43-40, as the game headed to the fourth quarter.

Louisburg scored 23 points in the final eight minutes, outscoring Spring Hill by nine points in the frame.

Kyle Nauman led Louisburg with 14 points. David Embers had 13. Kody Cook finished with 12 points.

Mitch Watson led Spring Hill with a game-high 17 points. James Beard scored 10 points. Jordan Miller and Cody Swope each had six points.

All-tourney

Miller of Spring Hill and Cook of Louisburg were among the 11 boys named to the Spring Hill Invitational all-tournament basketball team announced Saturday following the final day of the week-long event.

Seventh place

Seth Jones sank five 3-pointers and scored a game-high 26 points to lead Osawatomie to a 63-44 victory against Metro Academy in the seventh-place game. Brendan Soucie finished with 21 points.
