Local residents looking to help save a life will get an opportunity this afternoon at Paola Middle School during an American Red Cross blood drive. The school is sponsoring the drive as part of the American Red Cross’ Would You Be My Hero program. The drive is scheduled to take place from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the commons area at Paola Middle School. The program encourages students to play a major role in the blood donation process by recruiting parents, guardians or other adults to give blood. Students also will volunteer their time during the blood drive to ensure its success, according to a news release. The drive is open to the public.
