Ruby Law, 85, died Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, at Olathe Medical Center.

She was born Jan. 1, 1924, in Hillsdale. She was the eighth child of 13 born to Walter and Luella Sullivan.
She attended school in Hillsdale until her family moved to Paola in 1934 where she continued through high school.

She was married in 1941 to Howard W. Law. They made their home in Osawatomie and became the parents of three children. They were married 55 years before he preceded her in death in 1996.

She was very active in the Osawatomie community. She was a member of Eastern Star, Rebekah Lodge, Campers Club, Over 50 Club and the First Baptist Church, where she was active in the Mera class.

She served on the PRIDE committee during the renovation of Memorial Hall, the Osawatomie Safety committee, and the steering committee of the Osawatomie History Museum, where she also volunteered for many years.

She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and was overjoyed with the arrival of her great-great grandson. She loved all children and had a special place in her heart for Cindy, Mike and Cara. She also enjoyed traveling, camping and dancing, which she and Howard did until his death.

After his death she went with the First Option Bank on many trips and attended every council meeting that she could. She loved playing cards, visiting with family and friends, and attending games and programs that her grandchildren and great-grandchildren participated in.

She is survived by her children, Larry Law of Osawatomie, Sheryl Law Howell of Irving, Texas, and Stephen Law of Osawatomie; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a sister, Edna Carson of Olpe, Kan.; and a brother, Melburn Stephens of Virginia Beach, Va.

Services were Tuesday at Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home, P.O. Box 430, Osawatomie, KS 66064, (913) 755-2114.
Burial was in Osawatomie Cemetery. Pallbearers were Roger Mathia, Gene Howell, Stevie Russell, Ryan Russell, Mitchell Russell, Westin Shay and Gage Hastings.
