    William Bearly, 86, a longtime Parker resident, died Saturday, Feb. 7 in Tucson, Ariz. He was born Oct. 30, 1922, near Parker and graduated from Parker High School in 1941. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Evelyn Bearly; three sons, David Bearly of Jacksonville, Fla., Lester Bearly of Paola, and James Bearly of Tucson; three sisters, Marie Walker and Ellen Anders of Paola, Grace Carothers of La Cygne; and a brother, Leslie Bearly of Tulsa. Memorials may be made to Parker United Methodist Church.

    Gladys Ann Hawkins, 78, Osawatomie, died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009, at Life Care Center of Osawatomie. In January 1959, she and her husband moved to Osawatomie, where he had accepted a position as managing editor of the Osawatomie Graphic, and she became the bookkeeper. A short time later, they became co-owners of the weekly newspaper and eventually assumed full ownership. When they sold the paper in 1998, she was general manager and co-owner of the Osawatomie Publishing Co. In addition, she and Eleanor Waggoner Budke were co-owners of Coach Light, a women’s clothing store in Osawatomie, for several years. Survivors include her husband of the home. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at the First United Methodist Church in Osawatomie. Arrangements are by Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home, P.O. Box 430, Osawatomie, KS 66064, (913) 755-2114. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Russell. Memorials are to the First United Methodist Church or Osawatomie PRIDE Program.

    Suzann Louise New, 64, Spring Hill, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009, at Olathe Medical Center. Local survivors include her husband, Charlie New of the home; and a son, Jerry Wayne New of Spring Hill.     Viola M. Noyes, 90, Louisburg, died Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, at her home. Services are pending. Arrangements are by Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Louisburg Chapel, (913) 837-4310.
