A new member to the Spring Hill Chamber of Commerce hopes to open a photography studio in the community soon.

Stephanie Spradling operates her business, The Traffic Gallery by Stephanie, at various locations to meet the needs of her customers. The portrait studio specializes in photographing babies, children, families and high school seniors. Spradling enjoys the artistic aspect of photography.

“I really like to be artistic with it, and it’s expressive,” Spradling said.

The Louisburg native is currently searching for a location for her business in Spring Hill to purchase or rent. She currently resides a few miles north of Spring Hill in Olathe with her husband, Bryce.

“I like the small town feel,” Spradling said. “Everybody knows each other, and if you have a good product, they’re going to recommend you.”

Spradling said she tries to keep up with the trends regarding high school seniors and finding spaces to shoot pictures. She takes pictures near Hillsdale Lake on five acres of land owned by her parents.

“A lot of the seniors are into the outdoor stuff right now,” Spradling said. “They’re not into posing, but capturing themselves as they are. Everyone is into something different.”

She finds locations to meet customers’ needs. Spradling said there was one occasion when a high school picture for a piano player was taken at a music shop.

“I encourage the seniors to bring things that are them,” she said. “If you play soccer, bring things that reflect soccer.”

In the future she hopes to shift her focus to working with babies and children.

The gallery has worked with students in Spring Hill, Gardner and Olathe. She graduated from Baker University in Baldwin, with a degree in business marketing in 2006. Spradling graduated from Louisburg High School in 2002 and was involved in several activities.

When she is not catching the candid moments of her customers, Spradling promotes Silpada Designs, a business that specializes in hand-crafted jewelry products. She plans to have an open house March 7.

Spradling is a member of the Kansas Professional Photographers Association.
