After having several issues with city officials, developers for a housing estate recently received approval for amendments of ordinances. Jim Hendershot, planning and development coordinator, said the process for the Estates of Wolf Creek have been quite an adventure. The issue came about when applicant Robert Garver asked for three permits. Two were approved and one was not. The third permit was rejected because it was not in compliance with the provision of rezoning ordinances. The plans for the project included plans for three-car garages that exceed 50 percent of the width of the dwelling. Hendershot said the denial led to several conversations with Garver and Pete Opperman (engineer). As a result, Garver filled out an application to amend the conditions set in the rezoning ordinances. The planning commission voted 6 to 1 to approve the request of the applicant. Commission member Brian Haupt voted against it because he believed the commission is deviating from previous practices and setting a dangerous precedent. The Estates of Wolf Creek is located near 191st Street and Ridgeview Road. According to documents from the city, the site is approximately 240 acres. The proposed site also features a 15-acre city park, community pool, boulevard and walking trail. The engineer for the project is Opperman Land Design, LLC. The prices for the homes range from $244,000 to $249,000.
