A festival for the Hillsdale Water Quality Project is scheduled for next month. The event is scheduled for 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Hillsdale State Park. In case of inclement weather, the festival will be held at the Spring Hill Civic Center. HWQP is expecting 136 Spring Hill Middle School students, 10 Wheatridge Middle School students and about 25 presenters. Lunch is scheduled to be served about 11:30 a.m. Due to Student involvement, RSVPs are required by April 1. For more information, contact information specialist Jennie Fyock at (913) 829-9414. The group hosts a variety of events and presentations to local schools and organizations, including EnviroScape. The three-dimensional model includes residential areas, construction sites, hills, forest, a factory and a lake. The model shows the movement of water through a water shed. The HWQP was established in 1991 by a group of concerned citizens regarding phosphorous, nitrogen, pesticides and waste water. The group assists in long-term protection of the lake and watershed. HWQP is located in One New Century Parkway, Suite 115 in New Century Kansas. The Web site for the organization is www.hwqp.org.
