Recommended fees for the 2009-10 school year were released last week by Spring Hill USD 230 officials.

Superintendent Bart Goering said the fees will be an action item during the next board meeting. The board of education is set to vote on the fees later during the school year. Barton said families are encouraged to fill out applications for free or reduced lunch.

The recommended fees are listed below.
  •     Textbook rental fees: $70 (increase of $5 or 7.7 percent).
  •     All-day Kindergarten: $65 per week (increase of $5 or 8.3 percent).
  • Breakfast Fees: Students: $1.20 (increase of 10 cents); Adults: $1.75 (increase of 40 cents).

  • Lunch Fees: Elementary: $1.95 (increase of 5 cents); Intermediate School: $1.95 (increase of 5 cents); Middle School: $2.15 (increase of 5 cents); High School: $2.15 (increase of 5 cents); Adults: $2.90 (increase of 15 cents); Milk Fees: 50 cents (increase of 5 cents).
Pay-to-Ride fee structure:
  • Fee Rates for full year: $200 per child (up $10 or 5.3 percent).
  • (maximum of $300 for all students in one family picked up at the same address) (up $20 or 7.1 percent).
  • Fee Rates for semester: $120 per child (up $5 or 4.4 percent).
  • (maximum of $170 for all students in one family picked up at the same address) (up $10 or 6.3 percent).
Pay-to-Ride increases reflect a 2.5 percent increase in the transportation contract for 09-10, additional fuel costs, and additional routes that have been added in prior years with less funding to supplement with General Fund dollars.
Drivers Education:
  • Students enrolled at Spring Hill: $230 (up $10 or 4.5 percent, previously unchanged for 3 years).
  • Out-of-District Students: $325 (up $25 or 8.3 percent, previously unchanged for 3 years).
