Shirley E. Buzzard, 78, Gardner, formerly of Spring Hill, died May 2, 2009, at Olathe Medical Center. She was born Sept. 14, 1930, in Milan, Mo., to William Glenn and Marvaline Reece Montgomery. She married Reuben Buzzard Jr. She was a cook for the elementary and high school in Spring Hill. She also worked at Puritan Manufacturing in Gardner and spent seven years as a caretaker, doing senior sitting. She was a Christian woman, and her family and friends were very important to her. She enjoyed shopping and loved to dance. She was preceded in death by her husband Reuben in 1967; a son, Michael Buzzard; a sister, Frieda Montgomery; and a brother, Billy Montgomery. Survivors include her sons, Monty Buzzard of Paola, and Marty Buzzard of Spring Hill; daughter Mona Mull of Rantoul; two grandchildren; a brother, Robert Montgomery of Tuscon, Ariz.; and her special friend Dana Lehman of Gardner. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Foster Cemetery, New Hampton, Mo. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bruce Funeral Home, 712 S. Webster St., Spring Hill, KS, (913) 592-2244.
