Beth Conner’s fifth-grade class at Hillsdale Elementary School got a chance to party with their trucker buddies May 7. Dave and Janet Vinduska of Randolph, Kan., who update the children on their life on the open road, stopped by the school to enjoy a Mexican lunch and answer students’ questions. One of Dave’s questions to the students was “If you put a white dot on both sets of trailer tires, when the trailer stops, will the spots be in the same place or a different place?” Janet asked them if they were sock, sock, shoe, shoe students, in other words, how do they put their socks and shoes on?, according to a news release. Dave and Janet were nominated by Conner for Trucker Buddy of the Month, and in February 2008, they won. They received an award at the Mid-American Trucking Show last spring at the Expo Center in Louisville, Ky. Mark Taylor, driver for Walmart, trucker buddy for 12 years, and President of Trucker Buddy International, presented them with a clear glass plaque with the inscription, “For Being a Trucker Buddy and Making a Difference to Students, Your Carrier, and The Industry, David and Janet Vinduska, February 2008.” Also present were Beth and Chris Conner and granddaughter, Paris, from Paola.
