David Glen Evans, 59, Garnett, died June 18, 2009.

He was born Oct. 6, 1949, in Coffeyville, Kan., the son of John Henry Evans and Velda Mae Isle Evans. He attended high school in Labette County, graduating in 1967. He then attended Coffeyville Junior College, where he played football. He also attended one year at Pittsburg State University.

Following school, he began working construction. This job took him all over the Midwest. He married Wynna Sue Finley in 1973. This union was blessed with two sons, Josh and Kyle. The family made their home in Altamont, Kan. The couple later divorced.

His work took him to Garnett, where he met Phyllis Osborn. They were married Dec. 12, 1987. She had a son, Dane. They later had a daughter, Alisha.

He worked as an equipment operator for water and sewer line construction. He was a member of the Garnett Gun Club and Parsons Bow Hunting Club. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and watching fishing and hunting on television.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Evans of the home; two sons, Joshua Glen Evans of Olathe and Kyle David Evans of Lawrence; one daughter, Alisha Mary Evans of Garnett; one step-son, Dane Patrick Byerley of Garnett; a brother Donald Evans, of Auburn, Kan.; a sister, Mary Ann Briggans, of Coffeyville, Kan.; and one granddaughter.

Services were Monday at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett, and graveside services followed at the Edna Cemetery in Edna, Kan.
