“I got bent over backwards and bent my back,” Bender said. The chiropractor fixed me right up.” Bender said he also endured broken ankles as a field general for Alva High School in Alva, Okla. He said he was back on his feet after several rehab sessions. His experiences with injuries in football, track and baseball throughout high school, sparked his interest to become a chiropractor. Bender Chiropractic is scheduled to open its doors July 1 in downtown Spring Hill. “I’ve taken the passion I had for health care and turned it into a business with a hands-on approach,” Bender said. Bender has been operating in Lenexa for three years and has been in the health care field for 12 years as a personal trainer and message therapist. Bender said his practice works on soft tissue, joints and underline muscle to relieve pain or injury. “We treat the whole body,” he said. “Therefore we get results that others don’t get because we treat the whole body.” The atmosphere in Spring Hill reminded him of the small town he grew up in. “I wanted to get back to a small town atmosphere,” Bender said. “When I went down to check Spring Hill out, it was the right fit.” He said the downtown location will be a good area for his business. “On Main Street, we got a lot of room, and it’s easy to get to,” he said. “As far as the location, it allows us to keep it affordable for people.” Bender said everybody can benefit from the service. “If you have an ache or direct pain, you should have chiropractic care,” he said. He said the best experience with his profession is treating individuals that have pain. “That’s what I take joy in, to see them without pain,” Bender said. The Oklahoma native and his wife, Amy, and have a 9-year-old son, Alex. Bender attended Cleveland Chiropractic College in Overland Park where he received awards including intern of the year and clinical excellence. Bender Chiropractic will share an office with Integrated Bodyworks, a massage therapy business operated by Kimber Pinkerton and Brad Berman. The businesses plan to team up and give back to the community of Spring Hill with fund-raisers. Bender Chiropractic will be located at 106 S. Main St. His hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Friday hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The office will be closed Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday.
