Jena Manchester, the daughter of Bret and Jane Manchester of Osawatomie, exchanged wedding vows with Byron Critchfield, the son of Galen and Linda Critchfield, also of Osawatomie, on May 31, 2009, at the Grand Loft in Osawatomie. The Rev. Leslie King conducted the double ring ceremony. Music was provided by Jack Floyd on piano. Michelle Pixler was the soloist. She sang “Valentine.” The bride’s brother, Dylan Manchester, lit four candles in remembrance of their grandparents, Byron and Wanda Manchester and Mervin and Dorthy Dial. The bride was given in marriage by her parents. She wore an off-white crushed taffeta gown with a halter-style sweetheart neckline. The bodice and tulle godet were adorned with lace appliques accented with Swarovski crystals and swept into a French bustle train. She completed the ensemble with an elbow length veil trimmed with crystal accents. She carried a bouquet of pink stargazer, calla and alstromeria lilies and spray roses with the stems wrapped in black and pink ribbon. The bouquets carried by the attendants were three white calla lilies, hand-tied with black ribbon. The color theme of the wedding was lipstick red and silver. Amber Howard, maid of honor, wore a strapless tea-length gown with a satin bustline in lipstick red. Bridesmaid Cassie Thompson wore a tank tea-length gown with a waistline bow of lipstick red. Flower girl was Lilly Thompson, and ring bearer was Dalton Critchfield. Landon Hedrick served as best man, and the groom’s brothers, Dallas and Cody Critchfield. were groomsmen. Ushers were Dylan Manchester, the bride’s brother, and Tyler Critchfield. The couple wrote and recited their own wedding vows. The reception took place at the Grand Loft with dinner and dancing. The couple went to Negril, Jamaica, for their honeymoon. Mrs. Critchfield is a 2009 graduate of Pittsburg State University with a bachelor of science degree in elementary education. The groom graduated from the United States Military Academy in 2009. He has a bachelor’s degree in physics. He will attend Army aviation flight school at Fort Rucker, Ala., where the couple will make their home.
