The bride walked down the aisle to music recorded by her late uncle, Richard Fulk. She carried a bouquet of white, yellow, orange and red daisies. She wore a simple, strapless white gown with white flowers in her hair while the groom was in all white as well, with white linen pants and shirt. Shortly after the ceremony, they had a private reception with cake, champagne and appetizers. That evening they had a candlelight dinner on the beach. A reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents in Paola on June 6. The theme of the evening was simply Kansas. The main centerpieces were sunflowers and candles. The reception started at 7 p.m. and went on all night with music, drinks and food. The weather was perfect. The groom is the son of Ron and Joan Shay of Paola, the grandson of Janice and Mike Shay, also of Paola, and Joan and Bill Donnelly of Olathe, formerly of Paola. He graduated from Paola High School in 1995 and attended Emporia State University. Mrs. Shay is the daughter of Dr. Larry and Penny Fulk of Paola. She is the granddaughter of Hurshel and Arlene Fulk of Hiawatha and Dr. Betty Nichols and the late Dr. Donald Nichols of Paola. She is a 2000 graduate of Paola High School and attended Kansas State University and then the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The Shays own and operate BodyMaxx Fitness Center in Paola. He also works for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. The couple plan to reside and raise a family in Paola.
