The Paola Police Department’s response to the recent theft of more than $16,000 worth of tools and vehicles from W.H. Debrick Co. is nothing short of amazing.

Less than two weeks after the crime took place, officers were knocking on the door of the alleged culprits and recovering most of the stolen property.

And these items weren’t just taken down the street. One of the stolen vehicles was taken to 7 Highway Auto Salvage near Fontana, and the warrant search carried out Friday was at a home in Parker, where the alleged suspects have been living.

Tracking a case between two counties isn’t always easy, but Capt. Kevin Colwell said the Linn County Sheriff’s Department was very cooperative during the investigation.
It’s good to see two entities working together to solve a case.
I’m sure the employees of Debrick Co. are very thankful for the efforts. Colwell said he learned that the items taken can take almost a lifetime to accumulate for some businesses.
Detectives stayed focused on their goal during the investigation, and because of their efforts, the items already are being returned  to the rightful owners.

Hopefully, the court system will work just as swiftly, and those who are found guilty of the crime will be properly punished.
