The Community Blood Center is encouraging donors to become heroes. Spring Hill High School along with the Community Blood Center is hosting High School Hero, a blood drive. The event to help local hospital patients is scheduled for 2 to 6 p.m. Nov. 4 in the upper gymnasium of SHHS, 19701 S. Ridgeview Road. To be eligible to donate blood, donors must be at least 16 years old and have parental consent. Free T-shirts are available for all registered donors. To make an appointment online, visit www.savealifenow.org and use the sponsor code: springhillhs. According to the Community Blood Center, the organization has been the primary supplier of blood for local hospitals in Missouri and Kansas for about 50 years. The center needs to collect 580 pints of blood each day and more than 140,000 annually, to meet the needs of hospitals.
