Erica Smith, who graduated from Paola High School in 2006, is now showing off her theater skills at the collegiate level. Smith, who is majoring in theater performance at Kansas State University, is featured in the lead role of the school’s current play, “Speech and Debate.” The play is about a group of three high school students who come together to form a speech and debate team as an act of revenge against a teacher. Smith plays the lead role of Diwata. Local residents can catch the play during 7:30 p.m. performances today through Saturday at Nichols Theatre on the K-State campus.
