Every time a member of Trinity Lutheran Church stops for a quiet moment of reflection in the new wooden gazebo overlooking the church’s cemetery, Zack Hutchison’s hard work will have paid off.

Zack has been a member of Boy Scout Troop 74 for more than five years, and he recently spent hours of hard work constructing the gazebo next to the church to complete his Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project.

Zack had a lot of support throughout the project from his parents, Alan and Jeanne Hutchison, and his grandparents, Leland and Slina Prothe, and the entire congregation.

He received specific help from his fellow troop members based out of Ottawa, as well as Tyler Allen, Loy and Andrea Hutchison and Dennis and Jim Prothe.
He also received donations from the Irene Prothe Memorial Fund, Alma Debrick Memorial Fund, Lorene Debrick Memorial Fund, Harry and Nancy Lukas, Leland and Slina Prothe, Linda Prothe and Kevin and Denise Debrick.

An Eagle Scout project must benefit an organization other than the Boy Scouts of America, and it cannot be performed for an individual or a business.

“We are both very proud of him for sticking with his plan even when other people were telling him it might be a little too ‘ambitious’,” Jeanne Hutchison said. “It was a big project, but it taught him perseverance and dedication in seeing a project through. We couldn’t be any prouder of him.”
