On Friday, Paola High School parents and students can get information about a number of technical careers.

The school is hosting a technical career fair from 1 to 3 p.m., and representatives from 10 technical schools will be on site with information.

PHS guidance counselor Debbie Baldwin said she’d like to see as many juniors, seniors and their parents attend as possible.

“The parents who attended last year were able to garner much information about financial aide, housing, etc. besides the nuts and bolts of the curriculum area their student wants to pursue,” Baldwin wrote in an e-mail. “Because of last year’s fair, we have a student at Beloit and two attending Tulsa Welding. Parents have shared this all happened through the information this day provided. We often get AG students to Fort Scott, Coffeyville, Pittsburg State and K-State, so helping to educate beyond these institutions can only help with the economic struggles going on as well.”
