Teams of teachers and staff members will battle for charity next week.

Members of Spring Hill Elementary School and Spring Hill Intermediate School will participate in a volleyball game at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 2 at SHIS, 300 E. South St.
Proceeds from the match will benefit the Great Bedtime Story Pajama Drive from Scholastic’s Pajama Program. The program helps children and families in need by providing pajamas. Scholastic Book Club will also help by supplying a book along with the pajamas.

Scholastic’s Pajama Program was created in 2001 by Genevieve Piturro and Alice Pagano Quirk in 2001. According to the program’s Web site, www.pajamaprogram.org, the organization has provided more than 350,000 pajamas and 140,000 books for children in need.
“So many children are without warm bedtime clothing and education, so we developed a creative program to provide some of both,” Piturro said in a statement. “We intend to make a difference — giving back is what it’s all about.”

The cost to attend the game is $1 per person, and it is open for everybody to attend.
