First Option Bank VIP group members from Paola and Osawatomie recently took an exciting trip to Rome. According to a news release, 29 travelers boarded a motor coach at First Option Bank in Osawatomie on Nov. 5 headed to Kansas City International Airport to begin the more than 10,000 miles of travel to Italy. The group flew to Atlanta and boarded a Delta 767 for a 9-hour overnight flight to Rome. Judy Miller, with assistance from her husband Bob, was the trip coordinator with the bank. Upon arrival in Rome, a tour manager and five additional travelers joined the First Option group and continued with them for the duration of the trip. Rome offered all the history with a local tour guide visiting the amazing Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, the Vatican museums and famous Sistine Chapel. The group attended an inspiring Papal Audience, and several chose to attend Mass at St Peter’s Basilica in St Peter’s Square. While in Florence, the group visited the Galleria dell’Accademia Museum, which houses Michelangelo’s David, the biblical shepherd boy ready to take on the giant. Other highlights were visiting a leather factory and showroom, the Duomo, St. Crocia and the Pieta by Michelangelo, Ponte Vecchip — the famous bridge of Florence, as well as the open markets. The day in Venice was breathtaking even though a rainy day was encountered. Those traveling with First Option Bank were: Bill and Pat Butler, Gregg and Janet Lewis, Michael and Vicky Hudgeons, Charles and Mary Lou Dixon, Dale and Donna Koontz, David and Lynda Koontz, Marcia Cooper, Virginia Duethman, Evelyn Gabbert, Pat Goodyeon, Cindy Lewis, Janice Stahl, Lynn Bandyk, Anna Fralick, Maria Heid, Karen Katzer, Carol Knoche, Arleta Ohlmeier, Connie Riley, Stephanie Smith, Madawn Traxel and Bob and Judy Miller.
