EMPORIA — Rachel Hanf, a 2009 Paola High School graduate, scored 11 points as the Emporia State Hornet women’s basketball team defeated Arkansas—Fort Smith 88-43. Hanf made two of six field goal attempts, including a three-pointer. She was one-for-two from the free-throw line. Hanf added three rebounds and one assist in 21 minutes. She had six points for Emporia State in an 84-59 victory against Evangel at home Nov. 21. She scored 12 points as Emporia State defeated Benedictine 89-49 in its season opener Nov. 17. Hanf made three of five field goal attempts and was a perfect five-for-five from the free-throw line, hitting double figures. A freshman guard, Hanf also added four rebounds, including three off the defensive glass. She had five steals and four assists, playing 26 minutes. During her prep career, Hanf led the Panthers to two state appearances. Paola finished in the top four in the state in 2009. Rachel is the daughter of Scott Hanf and the late Deb Hanf of Paola.
