Howard and Ila Gillogly of rural Louisburg will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary with an open house from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Drexel First Baptist Church, 105 S. Third Street. Howard Gillogly and the former Ila Homrighausen were united in marriage Dec. 20, 1969, at the Paola Presbyterian Church. They have spent their married years on a farm in rural Miami County near Drexel, where they farmed and raised their family. Howard has been engaged in farming all of his life and Ila is a retired school teacher. They have three daughters and six grandchildren. Until recently, the couple was blessed to still have two of their parents, both of whom turned 100 this year,to share in their lives. Mr. Gillogly’s father, Harold Rex Gillogly, died Dec. 5. The open house is hosted by Amy and Robert Barenklau of Paola, Joyce and Tim Cantrell of Archie, Mo., and Holly Gillogly of Drexel, Mo. The day is also a celebration of their lives, as Ila has been diagnosed with leukemia. Friends and family are encouraged to bring memories, share stories and shower the couple with cards during the open house. The family requests no gifts, just your presence.
