Coming off a 9-4 season and a run to the Class 4A substate playoff game, the Paola High School football team had 11 players earn a total of 17 selections on the Frontier League all-league football team.
Senior lineman Cale Karigan was a first-team selection on both sides of the football for the Panthers. 
Skylar Hawkins, a junior, was a first-team offensive selection at running back and kick return.
Paola had three second-team selections and 10 honorable mention selections on the all-league team.
“Our successes were made possible through the leadership and work ethic of our players,” Paola coach Michael Dumpert said. “Cale, Luke, Dan and Skylar represent and reflect those traits as well as being talented football players.
“To be recognized as an all Frontier League player is a fantastic honor,” Dumpert said. “Our league’s post season accomplishments year after year speak for itself.” Karigan was a force on the offensive line for the Panthers, plowing holes for all-league backs Hawkins, Tyler Henness and Seth Kern.
Defensively, Karigan was a wall against the run and a tough pass rusher. He had 43 tackles on the season.
Hawkins led the Paola offense in attempts, yards and touchdowns. He carried the ball 275 times for 1,819 yards and 22 touchdowns. Hawkins was also a dangerous return man with the ability to return a kick or a punt every time.
Henness, a sophomore, had 176 carries for 981 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Kern, the Paola quarterback, ran the ball 142 times for 746 yards.
Luke Wilson was a second-team selection on the offensive line.
Linebacker Daniel Mawby and Hawkins, defensive back, earned second-team defensive selections.
Mawby had 64 tackles and caused one fumble. Hawkins made 43 tackles and recovered two fumbles.
Jesse Smail was an honorable mention all-league selection on the offensive and defensive lines. Smail had 31 tackles, including one for a loss.
Other offensive honorable mention selections for the Panthers were Spencer Trumbly, line; Kern, quarterback; Henness, running back; Mawby, running back; and kicker Nick Wilson.
Additional honorable mention defensive selections were Wilson, line; Brandon Goodman, linebacker; and Isaac Cotton, linebacker.
Goodman made 68 tackles on the season, including one for a loss of yardage. He caused two fumbles and had an interception.
Cotton had 54 tackles, with four for a loss of yardage. He had two quarterback sacks and one interception.
The Spring Hill Broncos had four all-league selections.
Jordan Miller was a second-team defensive selection at defensive back.
Miller had 38 tackles on the season. He had four interceptions, forced a fumble and had one defensive touchdown.
“He was a great athletic player who made a difference defensively when we put him in during week three of the season,” Spring Hill coach Anthony Orrick said. Miller, a defensive back, was the Broncos’ fourth-leading tackler of the season. Stewart Merritt was an honorable mention selection at defensive line.
Taylor Kettler earned honorable mention honors on the offensive line. Charlie Briggs was an honorable mention selection at running back. All-Frontier League Football
