1929-2009 Oscar Holway III, 80, Blue Mound, Kan., died Dec. 11, 2009, at Prescott Country View Nursing Home, Prescott, Kan. He was born on Oct. 14, 1929, at Worcester, Mass., the son of Oscar and Katharine Dennison Holway II. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business from American International College in Massachusetts, and worked and retired from Sprint as an executive. He married Ida Conroy on April 2, 1983. He was a member of Independent Telecommunications Pioneer Association (ITPA). He was also a member of the Masonic Shrine and Boy Scouts. After moving to Blue Mound, he enjoyed going to the local coffee shop, Ralph’s Filling Station. He was preceded in death by a son, Oscar Holway IV; a daughter, Heidi Holway; and two brothers, Nate and Dick Holway. Survivors include his wife, Ida of Blue Mound; a daughter, Stephanie Gunther of Rich Hill, Mo.; and seven grandchildren. In keeping with Oscar’s wishes, he was cremated and a private family graveside service will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.coffelschneider.com.
