Cheyenne Rankin scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Paola High School junior varsity girls’ basketball team to a 41-31 victory against Eudora. Rankin got into an offensive rhythm early, scoring seven points in the first quarter with three field goals, including a 3-pointer, as Paola outscored Eudora 13-4. Paola managed just six points in the second frame, led by two more baskets from Rankin. The Panthers were outscored 10-8 in the third quarter, but finished with a flurry, going on a 14-8 run in the fourth quarter to seal the win. Kaylee Farmer scored seven points. Amber Harris had six points. Other players scoring for Paola were Melanie Golubski, Annie Kessler and Morgan Garvey. Thanks to a 13-3 first-quarter run, there was little drama in the Paola junior varsity girls 46-26 victory against Osage City on Jan. 26. The Panthers led 30-19 heading into the fourth quarter and closed out the victory with a 16-7 run in the final frame. Farmer and Golubski combined for 25 points. Farmer led the way with 13 points. Golubski hit double figures with 12 points. Harris scored nine points. Paige Getz added four points. Other players scoring for the Panthers were Courtney Belsanti, Jendra Teuscher, Rankin and Kessler.
