Students at Spring Hill High School began celebrating Homecoming this week by wearing pajamas and hats to school.

The Monday activity was one of several that occurred during spirit week. Other activities during the week included dressing in sports uniforms and wearing clothes backwards or inside out. Thursday is twin day.

Spirit Week will end Friday, with students showing their pride by wearing purple and gold.

Before school ends, students will gather into the gymnasium for the pep rally at 2:30 p.m. Friday. During the rally, Tim Shea will be duct taped to a chair and will have pies smashed in his face. The messy activity is a result of the junior class collecting more than $200 for the citizens of Haiti.

The boys’ and girls’ basketball teams will face-off against De Soto High School. Games are scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.

Between the varsity games, the crowning for the 2010 king and queen will be announced. There are eight candidates, including Ashley Miller and Stewart Merritt; Mitch Watson and Yulieth Armstrong; Julia Hacker and Tyson Roberts; and Shane Slyter and Kelsey Carbajo.

A dance will take place after the game and is scheduled to end at midnight.
