One thing was for sure during the annual Barnyard Olympics at the Miami County Fairgrounds on Saturday evening, the rain brought the temperature down 20 to 30 degrees in a matter of minutes. The roof of Building No. 5 made sure the crowd stayed dry, for the most part, while the contestants were not as fortunate. For the fourth stop of the Barnyard Olympics event, the participants used buckets with holes in them to get water from a stock tank to fill their buckets. The stock tank was outside the building, causing those teammates to get wet. As the rain pelted the building, which is open with a roof, the games were well underway. The first leg of the event was the ball toss, where participants had to knock the ball to a line using a sock with a ball in it. Once across the line, a teammate had to knock the ball back to them. Each team in the Barnyard Olympics consisted of four members. Teams competed in pairs of two and were timed for how long it took for all four teammates to finish the course. The second stage was the calf roping, where participants roped a plastic calf head sitting on a hay bale. Everyone got to cool off for the third stage of the course - the watermelon feed. Each contestant was given a piece of watermelon and had to finish it before moving on. Then it was time to fill the bucket, which was no easy task given the fact that the buckets had holes in them. For the next stage, younger participants rolled hoops. Older children moved a large iron hay bale feeder by either pushing it on the outside or walking on the inside of the huge circular device. After rolling it to one side, the teammates took over and rolled it back, crossing the finish line to stop the clocks.
