PAOLA — It didn’t take long for word to spread that Paola’s Pizza Hut was celebrating its grand opening May 16 at its new location at 1613 E. Peoria St.

It may have had something to do with the fact that the business was giving away free pizza to the first 50 vehicles that came through the drive-through.

A line of vehicles soon wrapped around the building, spilling out onto Peoria Street as hungry customers waited their turn for free pizza.

The drive-through window is one of the new additions at the new location, which has been open for about three months. The restaurant previously was located on North Pearl Street.

Manager Paula Martin said people seem to love the window, and the restaurant does a lot of carryout business, although there is still an area for customers to dine in.
