Paola High School

PAOLA — Several Paola High School journalism students ended their school year with a bang in May by earning awards at the Kansas Scholastic Press Association state competition in Lawrence.

As a team, the group placed third in State 4A at the competition, according to a news release.

Students who received awards are:

  • Mariah Sullivan, senior, second place in Newspaper Design and second place in Infographics
  • Kalyn Bell, senior, honorable mention in Advertising
  • Hannah Menefee, senior, honorable mention in Photo Illustration
  • Chloe DeYoung, senior, honorable mention in Infographics
  • Bre Allen, senior, third place in Sports Photography, honorable mention in Student Life Photography and honorable mention in Yearbook Layout
  • Gracyn Shulista, senior, honorable mention in Feature Writing and honorable mention in Editorial Writing
  • Trinity Miller, senior, third place in Feature Writing.
