Students learn about Christmas in Germany

Kindergartners at Cottonwood Elementary School were surprised to learn that in Germany children place shoes, not stockings, by the fire to collect toys and trinkets at Christmastime. And if they’re bad, they get charcoal, not coal, in those shoes.

There were some whispers when they were told these children also get to open their gifts on Christmas Eve, not Christmas morning, and that Santa brings those gifts while they’re in a Christmas church service, not overnight.
