Regan Johnson

Regan Johnson had a passion for ATV racing, and her family started a suicide prevention organization called Shifting Gears after she took her own life in December 2017.

The Shifting Gears for Regan Charity Ride & Awareness Festivity is scheduled for Saturday, June 22.

Check-in for the charity ride is at 10 a.m. at the Paola VFW Post 3712. Kickstands up at 11 a.m., with a 50/50 raffle at each stop. Stops include The Salt Mine in Baldwin City, Dirty Dog's in Eudora, Boxcar's in Edgerton and The Bowery in Spring Hill.

For those who don't ride, the Awareness Festivity will take place from 6 to 10 p.m. at The Bowery, 20559 S. Lone Elm Road, Spring Hill. The event will include food, cash bar, auctions and music.

BJ Thomas and her family started Shifting Gears in June 2018 to honor her daughter Regan Johnson, who committed suicide in December 2017. Shifting Gears is focused on raising awareness of teen suicide prevention and helping families navigate life after the sudden loss of their child to suicide.
