Rison goes 7-for-8 as Louisburg softball team sweeps Osawatomie

OSAWATOMIE — A bad moon was rising over Karl E. Cole Sports Complex in Osawatomie.

Louisburg’s Molly Rison went 7-for-8 in a doubleheader against Osawatomie on Thursday, April 18. Rison led the Lady Cats to a sweep against the Lady Trojans by scores of 6-5 and 6-4.

Rison was 3-for-4 in the first game with a pair of doubles and a single. She drove in two runs and scored.

Lauren Cutshaw had two base hits, drove in one run and scored. Madison Svoboda had two hits and scored.

Brooklyn Diederich and Riley Ratliff both singled and scored. Alyse Moore doubled and scored. Kayla Willey singled and scored.

Diederich pitched the complete game and got the win. She allowed five runs on seven hits and struck out three.

Kaitlyn Fanning and Molly Spencer each had two base hits for Osawatomie. Fanning drove in one run. Spencer scored.

Lindsay Shippy singled, drove in one run and scored. Courtney Harris doubled and scored. Skylar Gravatt drove in one run. Tara Haag singled. Meadow Stull scored.

Madie Ballou, Haag and Shippy turned a double play.

Harris pitched the complete game, allowing six runs on 12 hits.

Rison went 4-for-4 in the second game for the Lady Cats. She doubled, hit three singles, drove in three runs and scored.

Karson Griggs had three base hits with a home run, drove in one run and scored three runs.

Paige Eccher and Moore each had two hits.

Diederich singled, drove in one run and scored. Willey singled and scored. Cutshaw singled and scored.

Griggs and Rison turned a double play.

Mia Wilson started the game, giving up two runs on four hits in five innings.

Diederich allowed two runs on three hits over the final two innings for the win.

Destanie Alacron had two base hits and scored for Osawatomie. Harris had two hits and drove in one run.

Ballou doubled and scored. Shippy singled and scored twice. Spencer and Fanning both singled and drove in one run.

Shippy stole two bases. Spencer stole a base.

Fanning went the distance on the mound, allowing six runs on 12 hits. She struck out two.

The Louisburg Lady Cats lost a doubleheader against Ottawa at home Tuesday, April 16 by scores of 13-8 and 7-4.

Griggs doubled and drove in two runs in the first game. Willey doubled and scored three runs.

Rison singled and drove in two runs. Svoboda had two hits, drove in one run and scored twice. Cutshaw singled, drove in one run and scored two runs. Moore had a base hit. Diederich scored.

Griggs and Rison turned a double play.

Wilson started the game. August Daniels came on in the second inning and finished the game.

Rison had three hits in the second game with a double. She drove in one run and scored. Cutshaw, Svoboda, Moore and Eccher each had two hits. Willey singled and drove in one run.

Diederich pitched the complete game, allowing seven runs on 15 hits.
