TOPEKA — The Paola Panther tennis doubles team of Brendan Ohlmeier and Lucas Vanuchi and singles player Sam Gasper placed in the top six at the Class 4A regional tournament, qualifying for state.

Ohlmeier and Vanuchi placed fifth at No. 1 doubles in the Topeka-Hayden regional Monday, May 3.

Gasper was sixth at No. 1 singles.

Topeka-Hayden won the regional title. Bishop Miege was runner-up.

The Paola Panthers placed third in the regional.

Miranda Carrete and Malia Czepcinski were one win away from going to state at No. 2 doubles.

Austin Kelly was one match away from qualifying at No. 2 singles.

Ohlmeier and Vanuchi and Gasper represented the Paola Panthers in the Class 4A state tennis tournament at Walter Blake Tennis Complex in Pratt.

The state tennis tournament was held May 10 and 11.
