TOPEKA — The Osawatomie-Paola girls swim team ended its season competing against the best of the best in the state swim tournament.
Molly Kane, Brayden Hanf, Alyssa Cole and Selah Hadle swam a state consideration time in the 200 freestyle relay.
Kane, Hanf, Cole and Hadle ended up qualifying for state. The girls swam a time of 1:57.12 for 30th place at the Capital Federal Natatorium-Hummer in Topeka on Friday, May 17.
“This was one of their best times from the season,” Osawatomie-Paola coach Gerri Hart said. “I hope the girls take this state experience and get excited about what they can do next year. It has been an awesome season topped off with an exciting trip to state for the team.”
Osawatomie-Paola placed third in the league meet with a team effort at home May 8.
Kane won the 500 freestyle with a time of 6 minutes and 38.30 seconds, taking 11.97 seconds off her time. Cole placed third in the event.
Iranzu Garrido, Hanf, Hadel and Kane placed third in the 200 freestyle relay.
Cole, Hanf, Hadle and Kane placed third in the 400 freestyle relay.
Hanf was third in the 50 freestyle and third in the 100 butterfly.
Kane placed fourth in the 200 individual medley.
Alyssa Cole, Maggie Cole, Sydney Tewes and placed fifth in the 200 medley relay.
Alyssa Cole placed fifth in the 100 backstroke. Hadle was fifth in the 200 freestyle.
The Osawatomie-Paola girls swim team celebrated senior night with a fourth-place finish in its regular season finale.
Seniors Alyssa Cole and Iranzu Garrido were recognized during the meet May 1.
Alyssa Cole, Hanf, Kane and Garrido placed second in the 200 freestyle relay.
Alyssa Cole, Hanf, Hadle and Kane placed third in the 400 freestyle relay.
Hadle placed third in the 200 freestyle. Kane was third in the 200 individual medley.
Hanf placed third in the 50 freestyle and third in the 100 butterfly. Maggie Cole placed fifth.
Kane placed third in the 100 backstroke. Alyssa Cole was fourth.
