Spring Hill boys runner-up in Class 5A track meet

PITTSBURG — The Spring Hill Bronco boys gave St. Thomas Aquinas a run for its money in the Class 5A regional track and field meet at Pittsburg High School.

The Broncos scored 121.5 points for second place in the regional Friday, May 17. Spring Hill was 1.5 points behind Aquinas for the team title.

The Spring Hill boys won the 4x400-meter relay in 3 minutes, 25.76 seconds, setting a new school record in the process. Running on the record-setting relay were Brennen Feeback, Wyatt O’Leary, Hunter Willyard and Chase Rooney.

Feeback added three more medals. He won the triple jump. Feeback placed third in the long jump. He joined Alec Waterman, James Barnett and Jordan Norman for runner-up in the 4x100-meter relay.

Izzy Williams won the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.62. She placed second in the 100-meter dash. Williams also qualified with the 4x800-meter relay team.

Rooney ran a time of 40.89 for first place in the 300-meter hurdles.

The Spring Hill track and field program qualified 21 athletes for the state track and field meet. The Broncos and Lady Broncos will compete in the Class 5A state track and field meet at Cessna Stadium in Wichita on Friday, May 24, and Saturday, May 25.

Allisyn Frank qualified for state in four events. She was runner-up in the triple jump. Frank placed third in the high jump and fourth in the long jump. She also ran on the state-qualifying 4x800-meter relay team that placed third in the regional.

The Lady Broncos placed second, third and fourth in the shot put. Meredith Todd was second. Kenzie Rios placed third. Madeline Belcher was fourth.

Wyatt O’Leary placed second in the pole vault. Thomas O’Leary was fourth.

Norman was runner-up in the 200-meter dash. Keen Knittel placed second in the javelin.

Skyler Navratil, Braxton Dixon, Skyler Burke and Wyatt O’Leary placed third in the 4x800 relay.

Jordyn Anderson, Vienna Lahner, Williams and Frank placed third in the 4x800.

Willyard placed third in the 400-meter dash.

Brenden Meek was third in the shot put and third in the discus.

Todd placed fourth in the discus.
