Bill passed away August 31st, 2024 of complications from Parkinson’s, Melanoma & covid.

He was born February 23, 1941 to Catherine & Henry Armstrong of Paola, both of whom preceded him in death.

Also preceding him was a younger brother, Hank. A sister, Betty Ann Armstrong and a younger brother, Don (Paula) Armstrong currently reside in Paola.

Bill graduated with the Paola High School class of 1959 and shortly thereafter joined the Marine Corps Reserve, attaining the rank of Sergeant.  After his enlistment, he married Shannon M. Pruitt on October 6, 1967.  They were blessed with two children, Beth (Mike) Bixler of Adrian, MO & Sean (SherylAnn) Armstrong of Hamlet, NC., three grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Bill was employed at the Delco Battery plant in Olathe, KS for 10 years, after which he and Shannon became owner/operators of Frank’s Tavern in Paola for eight years. Upon selling the tavern, Bill was a gauger/operator for ConocoPhillips Pipeline at the Paola station until his retirement in 2006.

Bill was an avid woodworker, building a rocker for his grandchildren, two home entertainment centers & numerous other projects.

He and Shannon enjoyed traveling for many years on their Goldwing Trike with family & friends.
