Fuchs wins Outstanding Contributor Award

WICHITA – Retired Paola High School music educator Jim Fuchs of Paola received the Outstanding Contributor Award at the annual convention of the Kansas Bandmasters Association. The 51st annual summer convention took place July 10-13 at the DoubleTree Hotel in Wichita.

Medical Center Auxiliary awards nursing scholarships

PAOLA - The Miami County Medical Center Auxiliary recently awarded nursing scholarships to Emersyn Smith and Jaycie Roseberry-Bright. Both recipients received $1,000 scholarships for their nursing education, and they were honored during a presentation July 31 at the Paola Country Club.

Osawatomie creates RHID to help develop Fifth Street Terrace

OSAWATOMIE – Osawatomie has established a Reinvestment Housing Incentive District (RHID) to encourage development of the planned Fifth Street Terrace Subdivision. RHID is a program designed to aid developers in building housing within communities by assisting in the financing of public infrastructure improvements.

125 years ago (1899) Annual Holiness camp meeting for this part of Kansas will start July 27 between the State Hospital and the bridge. There will be a large tent and smaller tents for campers.
