PAOLA – Mokan Communications has started work on a public Wi-Fi network that will provide free service to Paola’s Park Square and Wallace Park. A ribbon cutting for the project took place July 25 at Mokan’s outdoor booth at the Miami County Fair.

Miami County commissioners have decided to go revenue neutral in the proposed 2025 budget. Revenue neutral means the county’s mill levy would be lowered to the rate in which the county would collect the same amount of property tax revenue as the previous year, despite an increase in assessed valuation of nearly five percent.
